TUSCALOOSA – A University of Alabama organization, Founding 31, invited university alumni to hold a panel regarding women’s rights and campus culture in Graves Hall on April 12.

The group invited a list of panelists that have careers in education or social advocacy to lecture from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in an event open to all students of the university. Dr. Kathleen Cramer, former Senior Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Blackburn Society Member, and Dr. G. Christine Taylor, Vice President and Associate Provost for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion were two of those invited.

This lecture serves as an installment for the “Perspectives on Leadership” series, which focuses on the leadership of women at the capstone.

“I was so impressed by the leadership of the women in the campus who want to make a change to diversity at Alabama”, said Cramer.

The panelists also spoke on prevalent topics in society relating to women such as sexual assault, inequality and the history of women at the university in the question and segment from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. that featured guests from the Panhellenic and the Women and Gender Resource Center.

“Even as a male, coming to events such as these are refreshing to see a more liberal way of thinking come to a university that is often synonymous with tradition in a very traditional state”, said Christian Delacruz, a sophomore majoring in Marketing.
